Myranda + Mitchell: 10-17-2020
My first beach wedding did not disappoint.
This past October, in the midst of a pandemic, I traveled along with my wife and daughter to Clearwater, Florida, for a small vacation. This vacation came about because I had the privilege of filming the wedding day of Myranda and Mitchell!
I first met these two in the Fall of 2019. They found me through a mutual friend whose wedding I did in 2015. We discussed the details of capturing the big day here in Indy. As the months went on, something called 2020 happened. I thought, “Hmm, I wonder if this will affect the Fall wedding...”
Early in 2020, I received an email from Myranda explaining that they had decided to relocate their wedding to Florida. In Florida, things weren’t as “strict” as other states and the couple also had a connection to St. Pete, the eventual location of their wedding. They asked if I would be interested. I gave them a few details on how we could make it work and they said, “yes!”
My wife and I decided to make this trip into a family vacation leading up to the wedding. So, we headed down to beach life in Florida. Along the way we also decided to check out the house of a mouse during our stay! Check it out:
Now back to the real reason for all of this - the Nelson wedding! As the wedding day rolled around I headed off to St. Pete to capture Myranda and Mitchell’s big day!
The wedding took place on the beach in St. Pete, FL. It wasn’t a big gathering, 50-70 people, but it was the perfect size! I setup my cameras and was able to capture some beautiful angles. Angles I’ve not been able to catch before because this was my first beach wedding! I also had the chance to operate my drone!
The reception took place on the Calypso Breeze, which took guests on a 2.5 hour boat ride around John’s Pass near Madeira Beach, FL. This was such a fun way to do a reception. The weather was lovely and the couple had a beautifully simplistic and high-energy reception.
After we docked, I couldn’t believe I was able to have so much fun capturing a wedding day. Let’s just say it was a nice scenery change from landlocked Indiana weddings.
It was fun to relive the day as I assembled their wedding assets, and a nice reminder of the fun my family and I were able to have in the midst of a pandemic.
I wish Myranda and Mitchell the happiest of marriages and a fantastic new year!
