"The Year In Creativity Blog" 2017 Edition
Here is my 2017 Top 4 list of projects:
4. T B & J Interior Design: Recently my dad had been teaching a friend some design / art skills, she had mentioned to him the need for a logo.
My dad recommend his friend, Tamara, to me! I spoke with Tamara about her needs for her logo. She wanted a simple script design, but with her silhouette within the T.
Tamara sent me a side profile of her face, I took that into InDesign and built the silhouette from there!
3. Ignite Camp: Another year, another Ignite Camp! Each year provides exciting challenges, this year was no exception!
Each year the lead up is pretty straight forward with all the deliverables. Logos, promos, email signatures, booklet, etc. Check out past blogs talking about Ignite Camp for more.
Some of the challenges typically include last minute ideas like random videos during camp and keeping things new and fresh. After a while of filming the same camp location finding new things to film is key. But you already quickly realize what you don’t need to film, like hours upon hours of worship. Recap videos about a youth camp tend to benefit from activities, certainly worship shots for the heart, but people love to see what activities there are!
2. Not So Silent Night Music Video: Each year Eagle Students at Eagle Church in Zionsville holds a Not So Silent Night student event.
This year I worked with Youth Pastor Ian, intern Brad and my with, Meredith, to create a fun video for the event!
The video was a stroll through popular Christmas songs from various decades. The trio would interpret each song in different ways. I did my best to apply filters and filming styles to each decade, to emulate the look.
1. Recapping A 10-Year Old Wedding: In 2007 I filmed the wedding of my very old friend, Andrew and his new wife Michelle. I went as a friend but also someone who was capturing their wedding.
The wedding took place in Brazil, IN. I captured the day much as I would, but somewhere along the way, after the wedding, my friends just wanted the footage. But footage is a tricky thing, especially in 2007. I put the entirety of the raw wedding on a DVD (I believe).
Ever since then, I always felt like the wedding needed a recap video. So with their 10 year anniversary approaching, I thought I would put together a recap of the big day to surprise them with.
A big part of the project included color correction of the old film, yes film, not digital footage. Aside from that, the project came together great.
