"The Year In Creativity Blog" 2019 Edition

Picture this, it’s the year 2019 and you have no idea that 2020 will kick your ass! So enjoy this slice of life.

Here is my 2019 Top 5 projects.

5. “A Moody Christmas”: This video made the list because I think it was a great representation of a lot of elements coming together to make a well done video.

I’ve always taken pride in the ability to weave together a crazy idea, and make it complete and entertaining. As well as quality.

This video brought together a lot of the Eagle Student youth leaders for a fun little idea that was shown at the annual Christmas night.

4. Ignite Camp 2019: We went bold this year. Pink here, pink there, pink everywhere! From the logo to the shirts to the stage colors used.

For videos I went with some little flash elements over the clips, to enhance them, give them life and to make the videos stand out from other years.

The rules video this year was a compilation of previous years. This not only saved some time on me, but gave us a break from the usual formula of creating some special video.

Overall my favorite part of Ignite 2019 was the use of pink, a bold choice, setting the year a part from the rest!

3. Halloween Party: Halloween is in my blood, and not in a creepy way, unless it’s on Halloween and I’m going for that look.

2019 I found myself having less and less time to go crazy over costumes. Mainly due to life with a child! But we still managed to have a ball, and look good doing it.

Each year we hold a Halloween party, I try to do a theme, but as the years went on I found it nessesary to have the theme just be “Halloween”. So this year was just that, no theme, just have fun with it and make it “Halloween”.

It’s always fun to bring people together for games, food, drinks and costumes.

2. Fueled for School: Using what I do to help small organizations is such a special treat. Not to long ago I had the opportunity to help “Fueled For School”. Their mission is wonderful:

We eliminate hunger among Hamilton County students by providing food insecure youth with nutritious meal packs, promoting the educational value of nutrition, increasing access to local food, and instilling hope. In doing so, Fueled for School ensures that food relief has a more meaningful, sustainable impact for undernourished students and local producers.

They asked me in to help assemble a promotional campaign video elaborating on what they do to reach their mission.

The video was also an opportunity to see what they do in action. It’s a lot of work to feed those in need and I was honored to play a small part in helping them out.

1. Student 2018-2019 Recaps: In 2016 I began doing these End of Year recaps for the youth group at Eagle Church. By the time 2019 rolled around, I got really good at them.

Each Sunday there was youth group, I captured footage, new shots here and there, and assembled a recap video THAT NIGHT! I even did it on my phone in iMovie.

The best part about doing that was having all this footage to work with by the end of the a school year to do a school year recap.

It incorporated footage from Sunday nights, but all the other activities throughout the year. I’ve found over time, capturing the right content and organizing it properly makes a world of difference when it comes time to do a bigger project that would use them.
